Artefact is a socially responsive business house that envisions dignified presence of Bangladeshi crafts in the international market. Being inspired by the loveliness and elegance of the Crafts of rural Bangladesh rooted in traditional knowledge, Artefact started working with the rural artisans in 2009, primarily to create a niche market for the rural crafts as well to support livelihoods of the Artisans who has long been cherishing those out of their passion.
The aim of Artefact Our aim is to create opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers while providing particular attention to the empowerment of socially excluded vulnerable women. Artefact ensures environment friendly workplace, ensures spot payment to the artisans and does not employ any child labor.

Artefact works directly with the rural artisan, organizes them in group and orient them in understanding design concepts and products making in a sustainable way. We emphasize re-using used products with a view to promote an bottom up initiative of circular economy aligned to the UN SDG Goal 12 (Sustainable Production and Consumption).
So far, we have established several rural based production centers, employed rural
women with a view to help facilitate their socio-economic empowerment. Artefact also facilitate participation of its workforce in the decision-making process, engages them in pricing and costing of the products.
